Piccolo Farm is the family home of Katie A. Shea, one of the few professional trainers that specialize in the pony hunter division.  Katie offers a complete training program for ponies and their riders in Naples and Fort Myers, Florida.  Children and adults from beginners to advanced riders are welcome at the Naples location, Triple V Ranch 2960 Newman Drive, Naples, FL 34114.  Services include: boarding, lessons, breaking, training, sales, leasing, and showing.  Please contact Katie for travel availability for lessons and training at your farm.

TRAINING

The first ride to A-circuit training program

Katie has developed a complete training program for ponies and hunters beginning from yearlings and two-year-olds, progressing to a finished show horse. The focus of the program is on creating "packers" that are simple enough for children and amateurs to ride and can help their riders with pace, straightness and distances.

The program begins by building a relationship with the horse and a solid foundation of ground training. Next, the horse or pony is taught it's job as a show horse by learning to carry a rider through the proper paces for a show hunter, and finally they learn to complete over fences courses .

 

  • Professional Start
    A professional start for your future pony hunter star.  This includes breaking, ground training, under saddle, lead changes and over fences.  All rides will be provided by our professional trainer.  Ponies must be 2 1/2 years or older to begin under saddle training.

  • Ready to Show
    Show exposure for your pony hunter.  Pony hunter breeding, local and A-rated shows are available.  Add this package to the professional start to prepare your pony for its show career.

  • Pony Pro
    Customized problem solving, conditioning and schooling sessions to develop your pony to the best of its potential.  All rides will be provided by our professional trainer.

    LESSONS

  • “First” Ride to Pony Finals
    A complete lesson program for your child. Ages 3 and up welcome for private riding lessons. Our goal is to develop successful equestrians in a safe, educational environment.  Coaching for shows includes academy, local, A-rated and National competitions.

    Judging

  • Katie is available for limited judging dates as she pursues her “R” judges card in Hunters, Hunt Seat Equitation and Hunter Breeding.
  • Katie has been judging local shows for over 10 years.
